The first mention of eagles wings is in Exodus 19:4 where God instructs Moses to speak to Israel, reminding them , “You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself.” David speaks in Psalm 19:8 of being hidden under the shadow of His wings.
I see eagles here in Colorado where I live on a regular basis. I am always thrilled to see one or a pair. When I see an eagle, I immediately think of God. He created these majestic birds for His glory. If glory is defined as the manifestation of excellence, as St Augustine believed, then truly eagles are excellent birds. When I see eagles, I am also reminded that in biblical symbols, eagles represented God’s power sent to destroy the work of the devil.
We all desire peace and safety. I believe this desire is ‘wired’ into us as human beings. Our Creator is the Prince of Peace and the God of all Power, Dominion and Glory. Apart from Him, there is no safety. The apostle Paul wrote of the last days in 1 Thessalonians 5:3 revealing that one sign of the end times would be when men are crying out for peace and safety. I don’t think we are there yet, but we are closer than we have ever been in history. All the more reason to be sober and vigilant, watching for and waiting upon the Lord.
1 Thessalonians 5:4-12
4 But you, brothers and sisters, are not in the darkness for the day to overtake you like a thief would. 5 For you all are sons of the light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of the darkness. 6 So then we must not sleep as the rest, but must stay alert and sober. 7 For those who sleep, sleep at night and those who get drunk are drunk at night. 8 But since we are of the day, we must stay sober by putting on the breastplate of faith and love and as a helmet our hope for salvation. 9 For God did not destine us for wrath but for gaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. 10 He died for us so that whether we are alert or asleep we will come to life together with him. 11 Therefore encourage one another and build up each other, just as you are in fact doing.
If you are struggling to believe God wants you to live in His true peace and safety in the midst of increasing social insanity, then you should consider getting a sozo appointment soon. You can sign up using the menu bar on the upper right.
