And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils….
Mark 16:17
Rick Renner’s Sparkling Gems daily devotional begins today, July 8, with this text. Rick goes on to tell about dealing with demonic manifestations in the course of his ministry. When doing Sozo ministry, we occasionally run into a demonic critter, but to quote a friend of mine who does deliverance ministry, “We don’t set the table for those guys. So they rarely show up.” In Sozo ministry, we set the table for Father, Son and Holy Spirit. They ALWAYS show up. In fact, God is with us all the time. He will never leave us or forsake us.
I have recently seen young people on news videos screaming obscenities at police and other government officials. Their faces look like they are in demonic torment. They are certainly not being led by the Holy Spirit who produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23.) This list is called the Fruit of the Spirit. It’s one fruit in nine aspects and it is the supernatural outcome of developing relationship with God.
How is the year 2020 working out for you? I remember some prophecies given about the year. One prophecy said we would all have our vision for life clarified. I believe God did not cause COVID-19 to be released upon us, but I believe He is at work using the circumstances and situations we face to wake us up to His agenda. I also trust Him to watch over His word and bring it to pass. I know many believers who are standing on Psalm 91 and trusting God for protection as we go about our lives.
Sadly, I have run into many believers who have caved into fear during this time. When fear motivates your decision making, you will always miss God’s best for your life. God has not given His people a spirit of fear and timidity or cowardice. He’s given us a Spirit of power, love and a sound mind. Jesus made the statement quoted above from Mark 16:17. Continue reading and you see He also said believers in Him would speak with new tongues, not be injured if they handle snakes or drink poison, and heal the sick by laying hands on them.
No I don’t believe Jesus was teaching His followers to handle snakes and drink poison. Biblical imagery of snakes always refers to demonic things and poison could mean anything, especially teaching, that was deceptive, untrue, not of God.
Notice followers of Jesus are to lay hands on the sick to heal them. I wonder what Jesus thinks of ‘social distancing’ and hiding in our basements until they have an anti-virus shot available…
I know He wants His followers to operate in His wisdom and in His Spirit. Follow after shalom and you will be safe. If you are not awake to His Spirit, ask Him to wake you up! Following Him in His Spirit of power, love and soundness of mind is so much better than walking in fear, anger, hatred and confusion.
Blessings,
